As an energy company operating in a desert country, environmental stewardship has been deeply integral to our approach since our inception. From groundwater management and recycling waste, to emissions-reduction technologies and preserving the biodiversity of the Kingdom’s unique ecosystem, we have been a pioneer in finding ways to minimize the environmental footprint of our operations for over nine decades.
Environmental management is a priority for us at the Senior Executive and Board levels. Robust systems, procedures, programs, and oversight are in place to optimize our environmental initiatives, enabling us to build capacity to measure performance across the company, while aligning sustainability efforts with our business goals.
Our environmental commitments are guided by our Environmental Protection Policy and underpinned by an environmental management system aligned to ISO 14001: 2015. Our environmental management system provides a platform for all applicable Aramco organizations to adopt a proactive approach to: (i) achieve and sustain environmental compliance with all relevant compliance obligations, i.e., international treaties/protocols, government environmental regulations, and company standards, (ii) systematically improve environmental performance, and (iii) continual improvement.
